Closest beaches to Paris
When summer’s in full swing and the weather’s just right, it’s only natural to want to enjoy the fresh sea air and wide expanses of sand. Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to live close to the sea. We’re thinking in particular of Parisians and Ile-de-France residents who, despite the summer transformation of the banks of the Seine and the Bassin de la Villette into a “seaside resort”, want to escape and relax by the sea for a short or long stay. Fortunately, it’s quite possible to get your feet wet just a few kilometers from the capital, without having to spend a lot of time and money. Without further ado, discover the beaches and coastal towns closest to Paris.
What’s the nearest beach to Paris by car?
Dieppe is the closest beach to Paris by car.
Directly connected by freeway and only 196 km from the capital, it takes around 2 hours maximum to reach Dieppe beach.
Dieppe is an essential seaside resort on the Côte d’Albâtre and an attractive town in the Seine-Maritime department of the Normandy region.
You’ll find a lively waterfront and tons of daytime activities thanks to its proximity to the city center.
Dieppe’s 1,500-metre-long beach invites you to relax!
You’ll have the chance to stroll along the seafront, which is also home to a number of pretty beach huts, as well as a number of “guérites”, where the gourmet smells of crêpes and waffles waft in.
A change of scenery guaranteed!
Which is the closest beach to Paris by train?
Again, not surprisingly, Dieppe is one of the seaside resorts closest to Paris by train; 147 km separate Dieppe from Paris by train… To do this, head for the Gare St-Lazare; on average, no fewer than 13 trains a day link the two cities, a major advantage and one of the reasons why Dieppe is so popular with Parisians. It takes about 2 h 15 to reach the station from the train station.
Another possible destination: the beach at Le Crotoy in the Baie de Somme! Also accessible in 2 h 15 maximum, this time you’ll have to take the train to Noyelles-sur-Mer. The beach is huge and littered with cockles. At low tide, the sea retreats hundreds of metres, a breathtaking sight to behold!
